Essence:
A series of radio lectures, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of Black Canada, on topics
and issues affecting Afro-Canadians. Four speakers from the October 2005 anniversary conference
at Dalhousie University, sponsored by the James R. Johnson Chair of Black studies and Da Costa
400. Lecturers to be determined.
Goal:
To increase awareness of Black Canadian heritage and culture in the Canadian mind and
imagination. To commemorate and celebrate Black Canadian culture and heritage on its 400th
anniversary.
Legacy:
Increased awareness, value, education, knowledge, profile.
